Nutrisystem RESULTS – Week One, #NSNation!

So, you now know that I have officially become a Nutrisystem Blogger – and my husband is joining me in my journey! Each week, we will update you on our progress, success and even our failures.

We received our food a little over a week ago and have both been following the plan for a week.  So, it is time for our first weekly update.

Here is how we did on the plan:

Jessica:

I was really excited to start the plan, but was also a little nervous.  I have tried a few things to lose the last of my weight, unsuccessfully.  I had been wondering if I would have enough food to eat on the plan and also if I would be hungry all or most of the time.

The first thing that I noticed about Nutrisystem was how much food there actually was to eat.  Not only am I allowed breakfast, lunch and dinner… but I also received one Nutrisystem snack each day.  On top of that, I am allowed a daily Protein Shake, Two Smart Carbs, Two PowerFuels, 4 Servings of Non-starchy Veggies AND 3 Optionals per day – which my popcorn is included in that list.

I am actually eating more often on the plan than I was before I started… but with the right nutrients and the right amount of calories.  I haven’t noticed myself getting too hungry on the plan so far.  Also, I have been at a point where I had to drink a Dr. Pepper or a Coke everyday or I would get a headache.  It has been nearly impossible in the past to give these up.  This week on the plan, I have only had Dr. Peppers on 3 days and I am hopeful that I will be Dr. Pepper free soon!

The Food:

My Favorite Breakfast Food: Cinnamon Bun Breakfast Bar
My Favorite Lunch Food: Frozen Chicken Tacos
My Favorite Dinner Food: The Frozen Turkey Pepperoni Pizza
My Favorite Snack: Ice Cream Sandwich
My Least Favorite food: Chef’s Table Adobo Rubbed Pork

Stats:

This week I have noticed some weight loss in the way that my clothes are fitting… but I am not yet seeing the weight loss on the scale.  I believe that I am retaining water this week, mainly because I am drinking more than usual as the plan requires and I am also eating more sodium than I am supposed to on the plan.  Both of those things could account for the lack of movement on the scale.

Doug:

Doug is doing really well on the plan.  His main struggle with the system is the portion size.  However, Nutrisystem is properly proportioned… it is our proportions that are incorrect.  We have learned over the years to eat more food than is necessary and he is hopeful that this plan will get him used to the proper portion of food.

To keep his hunger at bay, he has been eating his lunch a little earlier than he normally would.  We also eat dinner as soon as he is home from work.  He supplements with lots of veggies, including zucchini, squash, cucumbers, sweet peppers and salads with fat-free dressing.  He loves the convenience of the food and how everything is labeled appropriately.  He also loves that he doesn’t have to think about the food that is going into his mouth each day.

Nutrisystem does include a daily planner for those who want to keep track of everything.  However, Doug would not do well on a system that required him to count calories or keep daily logs of his food.    He likes the simplicity of just grabbing his meal and his add-ins and then loading his plate with veggies.

Doug’s Favorite Breakfast Food: Apple Strudel Scone
Doug’s Favorite Lunch Food: Chicken Cacciatore
Doug’s Favorite Dinner Food: Ravioli and Basil in Tomato Sauce
Doug’s Least Favorite Food: Chef’s Table Moroccan Inspired Chicken

Stats:

Doug has done really well on the plan, even though he ate out for work two meals.  This week, he had a weight loss of 6 Pounds!
